It is extremely disheartening when an individual gets laid off from their job. This often happens, and not to just new employee either. Some workers have been at their same job for many years, and then boom they are given notice that there is no longer a position available for them at this company that they have dedicated many years of service to.
One of the many problems they are now faced with is where do they go to find a new job that only requires the skills they have been using at their previous employment for so many years? Chances are positions are scarce for this just based on the fact that they have been laid off from such a position.
Most likely these individuals can go on unemployment but that isn’t going to bring in much and its temporary. There may be another option though and that is the Second Career Program that the government is offering.
Chances are you may be told about this if you are on UIC benefits, then again you may not clearly understand it, or it hasn’t been explained to you correctly.
The basics of this program are that you can receive some help in getting trained within industries that are showing a need for workers.
While this sounds promising for many people who are desperate to find a job, it isn’t available to everyone, and you may be one of these people. However, there may be other solutions that the government has in place.
There is no doubt that you are despondent over your unemployment situation, and that is going to be the biggest factor that will hold you back. You may think that its your dire financial situation that is the big stumbling block, when it fact it isn’t. It comes down to your determination and approach. Right now while you have time on your hands seize the opportunity to find out what might be available to you by way of government programs. Or even take some action to do something yourself. Beat on the business doors of companies in your area. See if they would be interested in participating in some sort of skilled training deal like we talked about in a previous post.
You may feel that your current financial situation just won’t allow you to look at any of the government options for training programs, but look your situation over very carefully and see if there is a way that you could work on your circumstances to allow you to take advantage of one of these many options.
No doubt it will be a tough road to follow until you get where you want to go, but it may be a great way to secure your future when it comes to employment.
