Some may think we are on the tail end of the Pandemic crisis but all one has to do is look at the statistics that are being put out each day concerning new cases. This situation has caused some dire situations for many individuals. The Canadian Government has implemented some temporary programs to help with this. While some have expired there are still several that are still active.
Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB)
There are some individuals who have been laid off or have lost their jobs and are not eligible for Employment Insurance. The CRB is there to help those individuals who are self-employed or employed individuals who find themselves in this situation. This is a program that is being managed by the CRA. It amounts to $1,000 ( $900. After taxes) for a two week period. This is a program that has to be applied for every two weeks if the individual has not returned to work. Applicants are allowed to apply for this program for a total of 13 periods which covers a total of 26 weeks. The program is slated to be in effect from September 27, 2020, up to September 25, 2021.
Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB)
There are many who are self-employed or employees that cannot work because they have to care for a youngster under the age of twelve. Also, there are some who need to care for a family member who is required to have supervised care. For the children in this category, they are now able to attend their regular school or facility because of CIVID-19. The other family member who needs supervision may not be able to attend their regular facility because its closed or they are sick. Or perhaps they are self-isolating. Those caregivers who fit this criteria may be entitled to $500. ( $450. After-tax) weekly. It has to be applied for on a weekly basis. This is applicable if one meets the criteria up to a period of 26 weeks. It began on September 27, 2020, and will end on September 25,2020.
Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB)
This is a program for those who are employed or self-employed and are not able to work because they have contracted the virus. Or they have to isolate. Or for those who have health issues that may put them at risk for getting COVID-19. This is available for one week at time for those who meet the criteria. The amount received can be $500 each week ($450. After taxes)
This has to be applied for on a per week basis.
